ABOUT THE ROLE

The Transparency International Secretariat is currently seeking a part-time Project Manager (m/f/d) for our two small climate and environment knowledge and policy projects, to join the Projects Team. 

This role is responsible for project managing:

  • The GIZ-funded project “Climate & Corruption Case Atlas” (the Atlas), a digital tool and library spotlighting and illustrating how corruption negatively impacts efforts to adapt to and mitigate the climate crisis, including case study inputs from TI chapters and other CSO partners
  • The GIZ-funded project “Partnering for Readiness”, which will consolidate learnings and develop knowledge products from the Peer-to-Peer Learning Alliance on Climate Finance Integrity (P2P LA) to share with broader external audiences.

 The role requires a highly motivated professional with sound experience in complex project management, donor relationship and reporting, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), excellent communication skills and a solid grounding in themes relating to climate, environment or natural resource management. 

The successful candidate will be offered a contract limited for ten months, when the available funding ends.

 

Role Purpose: The Project Manager, Climate and Environment is responsible for ensuring smooth implementation of the small GIZ-funded climate and environment projects, coordinating the work flow, financial and administrative management of the project and ensuring that agreed goals, best practice standards in project management and MEL, donor obligations and TI-S regulations are met relating to the project implementation by TI-S and partners.

Contract Duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract limited for ten months

Working Hours: part time [50%; 20 hours per week]

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Based in the Projects Team, the Project Manager, Climate and Environment will:

  • Coordinate day-to-day project implementation of the small climate and environment projects, including activity planning, budget management, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring that all phases are consistent with the design and delivery schedule and internal processes and procedures, and striving for high-quality and gender-responsive outputs and the greatest possible impact of project activities.
  • Coordinate the preparation of all project management tools (project calendar, workflows, team collaboration plans, stakeholder and risk management, reporting documentation and MEL) together with relevant colleagues in other TI-S teams including Policy and Advocacy, Communications and Research and Knowledge
  • Work in close collaboration with the Climate and Environment Lead and co-implementing partners, to support successful implementation of the project, particularly in efforts to monitor and evaluate project impact, plan advocacy and knowledge interventions and communication/outreach activities, and share experience across activities.
  • Coordinate the organisation of institutional meetings and events as per the project calendar and ensure the timely and cost-effective execution of project activities and the organisation of related events.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Finance team to build accurate financial forecasts, including reviewing financial reports and identifying in advance areas of over- or under-spending, and flagging any urgent budgetary issues.
  • Ensure work deliverables meet quality standards and donor compliance requirements, and proactively seek input from relevant internal experts as needed.
  • Coordinate donor engagement and relationship management in relation to the project.
  • Build project relationships with external counterparts, communities of practice and stakeholders; contribute to external communications and media work as needed.
  • Contribute to the overall functioning of the Projects Team by providing proactive and ad hoc support where necessary

CANDIDATE PROFILE

In order to succeed in this role, candidates will need to meet the following:

  • University degree in business administration, management, finance, social science, public administration, economics, or another relevant field
  • 5+ years of project management and reporting experience with donor-funded projects in the civil society field - preferably with an International NGO or International Organisation – with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of project management best practices
  • Knowledge of, or considerable interest in, the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption, good governance and civil society participation
  • Solid thematic grounding in climate, environment or natural resource management
  • Familiarity with donor rules and regulations, with previous GIZ experience essential
  • Solid understanding of project MEL and results-based management approaches; and proven track record of supporting project learning
  • Demonstrable experience of gender mainstreaming and incorporating inclusive approaches in project and knowledge management
  • Experience with and/or a good understanding of advocacy and knowledge management concepts and processes
  • Solid understanding of budget/financial management processes (working in collaboration with Project Accountants)
  • Excellent organisational skills, structured approach to task management and ability to effectively manage complex projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders, and build collaborative relationships and informal influencing for project success
  • Strong communication, team work and intercultural competencies, diplomacy, and political sensitivity; excellent oral and written communication in English
  • Results-driven and resilient self-starter, highly motivated to contribute to project success and comfortable responding to complex and competing demands
