ABOUT THE ROLE

The Transparency International Secretariat is looking to fill an exciting policy position that will be based in our Policy and Advocacy Team to support our climate integrity programme. The Advocacy and Campaigns Lead (m/f/d) leads on the organisation’s advocacy campaigns on Climate Integrity, developing strategies, plans and products to support TI’s advocacy, campaigning and communications in the TI network. The Advocacy and Campaigns Lead (m/f/d) targets a series of external and internal audiences and stakeholders, supporting National Chapters with advocacy campaigning tools and products. They implement strong outreach to global institutions and other international actors through coalition and relationship building in coordination with TI’s climate integrity lead. 

The Climate Governance Integrity Programme aims at enhancing transparency, inclusivity and accountability of climate policy and governance frameworks so that climate efforts are shielded from corruption, and reach the groups most vulnerable to climate change. OVERVIEW OF KEY DIMENSIONS

Role Purpose: Lead on the organisation’s advocacy campaigns on Climate Integrity, developing strategies, plans and products to support TI’s advocacy, campaigning and communications in the TI network.

Reporting Line: Head of Policy & Advocacy

Salary Band: Salary according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF3 a salary starting EUR 55,650 gross per year depending on relevant experience

Contract Duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract limited for a duration of 2 years, with prospect of extension subject to continued organizational need, performance and funding. 

Working Hours: full time [100%; 40 hours per week]

Location: Berlin

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Based in the Policy & Advocacy Team and reporting to the Head of Policy & Advocacy, the Advocacy & Campaigns Lead (m/f/d) will:

  • Lead on collective international advocacy campaigns on climate and corruption issues, developing plans and strategies and implementing these together with colleagues in TI-S (climate team, communication team, and others) and the TI Movement and working with external partners.
  • Coordinate Chapters’ participation in global advocacy campaigning work, coordinating internal communications and knowledge sharing by using meetings, email lists, social media and other knowledge management tools to share best practice and learning across the Movement.
  • Build new and sustain existing strategic partnerships and alliances, by coordinating coalition efforts as well as overseeing dedicated components of work with external consultants to advance campaign objectives.
  • Deliver planned advocacy activities, resources and schedules.
  • Create advocacy campaign materials, including social media and digital campaigning, web content, and commentaries, interventions, think pieces or policy working papers as necessary.
  • Communicate TI's position and messaging to external and internal audiences
  • Assess and initiate opportunities for advocacy, lobbying and campaign actions regionally and internationally, through stakeholder mapping and issue scanning, as well as through active engagement in Monitoring, and Evaluation and Learning cycles/feedback loops.
  • Develop funding applications, implement grants and create or compile reports to funders, as well as deliver any other tasks identified as necessary.
  • Contribute to the overall functioning of the Policy and Advocacy team by providing proactive and ad hoc support as needed 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

In order to succeed in this role, candidates will need to meet the following:

  • Graduate university degree or professional qualification in social science, public policy or administration, journalism, international law, economics, management, or another relevant field
  • 7+ years of professional experience in international advocacy, campaigning, and communications
  • Sound knowledge of climate integrity issues and/or anti-corruption; past experience in working with and on anti-corruption, climate or development a strong advantage (e.g. with international institutions and networks, civil society organisations)
  • Experience with and/or a good understanding of advocacy campaigning concepts, processes and tools 
  • Excellent analytical skills, with demonstrated record of strong writing and communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English (to native speaker standard); proficiency in other languages an asset
  • Strong organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Strong diplomatic and intercultural skills and ability to integrate diverse views and convene different actors
  • Commitment to environmental issues and anti-corruption
  • Fluent in English, additional languages (in particular Spanish and/or French) an advantage
