Digital Communications Specialist (m/f/d)

We are hiring a Digital Communications Specialist (m/f/d) to join our dynamic communications team to support our brand, influencing and engagement goals to help achieve Transparency International’s vision of a world free from corruption.

A brilliant writer with creative flair and a strong understanding of how to tailor content for different digital platforms and optimise for search engines, you’ll be able to advise on approach and produce content for all of our channels, from blogs to social media especially LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok – as well as create our regular email newsletter to supporters. You’ll also play a key part in collaborating with colleagues across our global movement to identify and gather compelling stories about our work fighting corruption.

This role would suit someone with at least five years of experience working on digital content or in digital marketing, who is proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and wants to use their creative skills and ideas to drive positive change.  

 

OVERVIEW OF KEY DIMENSIONS

Role purpose: The Digital Communications Specialist (m/f/d) will support our brand, influencing and engagement goals, advising on approach and producing content for all of our digital channels. They will proactively manage our blog and email newsletter, and develop our approach to story-gathering to show the impact of Transparency International’s movement. 
Team: Communications
Reporting line: Digital and brand lead
Salary band: according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF2 salary starting EUR 42,000 gross per year depending on relevant experience
Starting date: As soon as possible
Contract duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract for a duration of two years. There is a prospect of extension subject to organisational need, proven performance and funding.
Working hours: Full time – 100%, 40 hours per week
Contract location: At our office in central Berlin. Hybrid within Germany also considered. All staff are required to spend a minimum of four days a month in the office.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Based in the Communications Team and reporting to the Brand and Digital lead, the Digital Communications Specialist will:

  • Design and deliver a range of strategic digital communications activity to support organisational brand, influencing and engagement goals, ensuring high quality outputs consistent with house style and digital best practice, in particular SEO.
  • Lead on the production of the weekly email newsletter, which highlights global examples of tackling corruption to supporters and the anti-corruption community, using insights to drive engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across our global movement to identify compelling stories about our work fighting corruption, ensuring informed consent and gathering quotes, stories and visuals that can be repurposed across formats.
  • Manage the blog, Voices for Transparency, proactively generating ideas for content and writing and editing drafts, to ensure a consistent approach and regular flow of content that is integrated with broader digital activity and engagement goals.
  • Contribute to managing the organisation’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, X,  Facebook, YouTube), creating and adapting content, including written posts, graphics using Canva and short-form videos such as Reels, TikTok, Shorts
  • Contribute to monitoring, measuring and reporting on social media performance using native and third party analytics tools (e.g., Meta, Google Analytics, Falcon), including making recommendations on how to improve.
  • Contribute to broader digital strategy and the effective operation of the Communications function by supporting on other tasks as required.  

Candidate profile

  • 5+ years relevant experience in developing and delivering digital communications activity across online, email and social media to support organisational brand and engagement goals. Experience working within an NGO on political, economic, environmental or human rights issues is desirable.
  • Degree and/or professional qualification in communications, social science, administration, journalism, economics, management, or another relevant field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to native speaker standard in English required. An additional language, in particular French, Spanish and/or Arabic is an asset. 
  • A strong understanding of SEO, keyword planning and tailoring content to different platforms and audiences
  • Experience in using a CMS (such as Craft), experience in content creation (eg using Canva and Adobe), and simple video creation and editing.
  • Desirable - experience using web and social media analytics to measure and report impact, familiarity with Google ads.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with cultural awareness and political sensitivity
