ABOUT THE ROLE

The Global Corruption Barometer (GCB) is Transparency International’s flagship public opinion survey, capturing citizens’ experiences of and attitudes toward corruption. The Research Coordinator, GCB Pacific (m/f/d) supports the day‑to‑day coordination and implementation of the GCB survey in the Pacific, working closely with external survey agencies, TI national chapters and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and high data quality.

This is a fixed‑term, part‑time position (80%), starting on 1 July 2026 and running until 30 June 2027.

The role requires strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, international research environment.

OVERVIEW OF KEY DIMENSIONS

Role purpose: The Research Coordinator, GCB Pacific (m/f/d) contributes to TI’s research portfolio by coordinating assigned aspects of survey project implementation, quality control, and external partner engagement, in line with agreed methodologies and project plans.

Band: According to TI‑S internal salary structure; this position is aligned with band PF2, with a salary range of EUR 42.000–59.000 gross per year (full‑time equivalent). Final salary placement will be determined based on the amount of years of relevant professional experience.

Starting Date: 1st of July

Contract Duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract limited for a duration of twelve months.

Working Hours: Part-time [80%; 32 hours per week]

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Survey Implementation & Project Coordination

· Coordinate the day‑to‑day implementation of the GCB survey in the Pacific, including questionnaire finalisation, sampling coordination, fieldwork oversight, data processing, and delivery, in line with agreed methodologies and timelines.

· Serve as the primary operational point of contact for survey agencies, consultants, and external partners, ensuring effective coordination and information flow.

· Liaise with TI national chapters and partners in the Pacific to support in‑country coordination, fieldwork oversight and adherence to agreed protocols.

· Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with contracts, workplans and quality control processes.

Data Quality Control & Analysis

· Coordinate and implement data quality control processes, ensuring data integrity, consistency and compliance with methodological standards.

· Review, clean and validate survey datasets in close coordination with survey agencies; identify issues and propose solutions in line with established procedures.

· Conduct quantitative data analysis using SPSS, STATA or equivalent software, including descriptive statistics, cross‑tabulations and other analyses as required.

· Prepare technical notes, data documentation and internal briefings related to survey implementation and results.

Coordination, Reporting & Knowledge Sharing

· Communicate progress, risks and challenges to the TI‑S Research team in a timely and structured manner.

· Support the preparation of reports, presentations and briefing materials, including methodological guidance for TI national chapters, country data products and regional outputs.

· Respond to internal and external requests related to the survey and data, escalating issues where they have broader methodological or organizational impact.

· Contribute to the overall functioning of the Research team through proactive coordination and ad‑hoc support as required.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Required

· Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant social science discipline (e.g. statistics, data science, sociology, political science, economics, public administration or related field).

· Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in survey research, quantitative research coordination, or applied research project implementation.

· Demonstrated experience coordinating survey research processes, including questionnaire development support, sampling, fieldwork coordination and data management.

· Practical experience with data quality control, dataset validation, cleaning and documentation.

· Proficiency in SPSS, STATA or equivalent statistical software.

· Proven ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, manage timelines and work effectively with external service providers.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical issues to non‑specialist audiences.

· High attention to detail and commitment to methodological rigor.

Desirable

· Experience working in or on the Pacific region.

· Familiarity with public opinion surveys or governance‑related research.

· Experience with multi‑country or comparative survey research.

· Experience providing technical guidance or training on survey methods or data use.
